Our Approach
Unrestricted Provider
At Locklear Dentistry, we take a patient-first approach to dental care – our relationship is with our patients, not their insurance company. That's why we have a Fee-For-Service model, so we can offer the highest quality of care at a reasonable cost. That way, our patients can make decisions based on what's best for their health, not what their insurance dictates.
As such, we will work with all PPO insurance plans to help you maximize your benefits. Our knowledgeable team will assist you in navigating your coverage and understanding your options.
Here's how our insurance billing process works:
Patients with a PPO insurance plan are charged up-front for the cost.
We bill your dental plan at the time of service.
If covered, the insurance company will then reimburse patients directly, less any co-pays and/or deductibles that may apply.

Dr. Darryl Locklear
Originally from Pembroke, Dr. Locklear has been pleased to call Greensboro, NC, his home for the last several years. He attended Catawba College, where he played football and completed a B.A. in Business. After working in insurance for five years, Dr. Locklear discovered a desire to provide compassionate care and realized dentistry was his true calling. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completing his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the UNC School of Dentistry. Before starting his own practice, Dr. Locklear worked as a dental associate for three years.
Dr. Locklear provides personalized care to each patient and prides himself on his commitment to patient communication and education. Throughout his career, he has continued his education by completing additional courses in dental implants, same-day crowns, root canals, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dentures, CAD/CAM design, sleep disorders, and TMJ disorders.

The Invisalign Treatment Process
Consultation & Exam
During your first visit, your doctor will take a look at your bite and smile to determine if Invisalign is the right option for you. This is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have about your smile, Invisalign, or other treatment options.
Aligner Pick Up
Once you’re approved for treatment, we will take scans or impressions of your teeth to ensure your Invisalign trays fit perfectly. When your aligners arrive at our office, you’ll come and pick them up to begin your treatment.
Check-ins
Once you’re approved for treatment, we will take scans or impressions of your teeth to ensure your Every six weeks or so, you’ll come back to our office to pick up your next few sets of aligners. Every treatment plan is different, so this amount of time may vary based on your needs. These check-ins are essential to ensure your treatment is on track and that your Invisalign trays are fitting properly.

Dr. Blalock grew up on a beef cattle farm in Crossville, TN. The time he spent working on the farm taught Dr. Blalock valuable problem-solving skills and a good work ethic. After Dr. Blalock suffered a dental injury when a cow’s hoof contacted his teeth, his dentist repaired his smile and sparked a fascination for the art of dentistry. Because of that experience, Dr. Blalock realized his calling was to become a dentist. He loves that dental work gives him the ability to work creatively with his hands while interacting with patients and making a positive impact on their lives.
Dr. Blalock graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Tech University with an undergraduate degree in health science biology. He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry
